UlpothaUlpotha has been a pilgrimage site for thousands of years and remains an oasis of tranquility in the heart of Sri Lanka.  Cradled on one side by low mountains and a lotus ringed lake and on the other by paddy fields, for the majority of the year it is a working farm village focusing on reforestations, organic farming and the fostering of traditional lifestyles.  Accommodation is in thatched-roofed mud adobes scattered throughout the village.  They are built using traditional methods and materials.  By design there is no electricity, in the evenings oil lanterns and flares light the way.  This us a beautiful private Ulpothahideaway open to guests for part of the year; a place of total peace, where you can experience the warm, generous and gentle hospitality Sri Lankans love to offer.  Although the main activity is simply relaxing, yoga, ayurvedic therapies and massages are available and included in the cost of your stay.  There are also excursions to surrounding sites of archeological interest.
